Data Storage Systems, Inc. (DSS, Inc.) is a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Pliant Technology, providing our customers with un-parralled support and services. DSS, Inc. provides design, implementation/integration, on-site installation and after market support services if needed. Pliant Technology Enterprise Flash Drives (EFD) are desidnged around a new controller plus, new software architecture that provides the enterprise data center with increased and higher levels of performance and reliability than hard disk drives and current solid state disks. The Pliant Technology Enterprise Flash Drives are meeting the "Green IT" energy efficiency requirements needed for the enterprise data center. Enterprise Flash Drives incorporate many technical and budgetary advantages. One of the biggest challenges for most appliacations is I/O Throughput. |
Pliant EFD Highlights: |
Todays high-performance storage subsystems attempt to meet the I/O performance demand by combining many spindles, large caches and multiple access points. This has been the tried-and-true method to meet today's increased performance demands. A typical high-performance SAS hard disk drive (HDD) consumes around 15W and is running roughly, 200 to 300 I/Os per second. A SSD is capable of thousands of I/Os per second while using 7W or less. To get throughput equivalent to a single flash drive, conventional storage subsystems must stripe 10 or more disks, using 20 or more times the power. Increase performance over hard disk drives in enterprise data centers. Less power consumption than hard disk drives No moving parts means increased MTBF. Roughly double than that of of hard disk drives. |
The Lightning family of EFDs is available in 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch standard form factors, capacities from 150GB to 300GB and all with Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface to fit a range of storage and server systems requirements. Pliant Technology provides two sizes and three models of EFDs: |
