SAN/iQ aggregates disparate resources into a single, larger storage system. What separates the LeftHand Networks IP SAN from those offering similar iSCSI SAN Solutions is, Thin Provisioning 2.0 for SAN/iQ. Thin Provisioning 2.0 eliminates the pre-allocated storage resources for various volumes and application servers. SAN volumes are "shrink-wrapped" and the software layer automatically allocates storage as needed. Bottom line...using SAN/IQ and Thin Provisioning 2.0 will allow more of the available capacity to be used for whatever data you add. Greatly increasing your Return on Investment (ROI) without comprising taking a performance hit to do so. You can build your SAN without impacting end-users, by enabling you to schedule instantaneous snapshots of storage volumes, and backup data from the snapshot volume. Open iSCSI SANs An iSCSI SAN can be composed of a single cluster of storage nodes or multiple clusters in different locations.
