This turn-key Disk to Disk to Tape (D2D2T) Overland Storage solution is capable of protecting 12Tb of data, scalable to 120tb (uncompressed). Data retention on disk and how that data archives to LTO-5 media is controlled 100% by the storage administrator.

Overland Storage Protection OS software enables users to implement Overland appliances in almost any storage or backup environment. It's completely compatible with all popular operating systems and backup application software and connects to Ethernet (iSCSI) and Fibre Channel networks.

A D2D2T is a best practice solution that provides the best of both worlds. The Overland Storage D2D2T solution allows the storage administrator to automate daily backups on disk so the storage administrator has the ability to implement fast restores and then move data to tape.

Disk-to-disk-to-tape is often used as part of a storage virtualization system where the storage administrator can express a company's needs in terms of storage policies rather than in terms of the physical devices to be used.

With our D2D2T solution, DSS, Inc. places a disk target (REO 4600) in the path between primary storage (SnapServer N2000) and tape (NEO 200S), using it as a type of caching device. Then moving data on disk to LTO-5 tape media thereafter. This capability is now made available by most backup packages, but exact details of the implementations vary considerably among software packages.

The primary storage server, the SnapServer N2000 is equipped with Overland’s SnapServer Manager™, a Java-based utility integrated with GuardianOS that enables you to manage all of your SnapServer, SnapSAN and REO 4600 VTL devices from a single console.

With the ability to scale from 12TB to more than 140TB, you can right-size your storage environment by purchasing only what you need today, and then expand your system as your storage needs grow. By allowing you to mix SAS and SATA drives, the N2000 enables you to build a truly customized solution that fits your specific needs.
