Disk to Disk Backup
Backup to disk for faster access & recovery times
Disk-to-disk backup is increasingly being implemented as an alternative to tape-based backup operations. Backup to disk provides a significant performance advantage over tape, which can greatly reduce your backup window.
Disk backup better performance than tape-based backup, allowing for speedier recovery and/or access time, because of the nature of disk versus tape. Disk writes data randomly, while tape data is stored sequentially. Using disk backups, you can also perform concurrent backup sesssions with minimal loss of performance.

Disk-to-disk backup has traditionally been expensive, but with the appearance of low-cost ATA and Serial ATA (SATA) disk, a disk-based backup solution is quickly becoming affordable.

Contact Data Storage Systems, Inc. to find out more about disk-based backup solutions. We can help you determine whether disk to disk, disk to disk to tape, or traditional tape backup is best for your. Our storage solutions experts offer services to help you determine which D2D solutions, if any, is best for your businesss, based on capacity and performance requirement, and your IT budget.

Disk-to-disk backup operations also usually require additional software, like Virtual Tape Library (VTL), to efficiently manage and deploy a disk-to-disk backup solution.
